COMPARISON BETWEEN THE BRAZILIAN SOCIETY OF OPHTHALMOLOGY ADMINISTRATION AND OTHER FOREIGN OPHTHALMOLOGY ADMINISTRATION SOCIETIES REGARDING THEIR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION TECHNIQUES, MANAGEMENT AND MEDICAL EXECUTIVE PROPOSALS
Objetivo
Purpose: To compare the Brazilian Society of Ophthalmology Administration (SBAO) with other foreign Ophthalmology Administration Societies in terms of rights and benefits for members, membership requirements and duties, extra-services offered to member, management, medical administration courses for ophthalmologists, and the reasons for their development.
Método
Methodology: This study has an analytical and descriptive design. It involves collected data from the website of various ophthalmological administration institutions, subject of medical administrative meetings and symposiums. The studied institutions include the Brazilian Society of Ophthalmology Administration (SBAO), the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA), and the American Association of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE).
Resultados
Results: All three institutions (SBAO, ASOA, AAOE) offer similar rights and benefits, including access to scientific resources, participation in events, and legal advice. The ASOA has a more comprehensive professional journal for publishing and teaching, which offers discussions and question-and-answer sections. All three institutions require payment of fees, and active participation. The AAOE admits only ophthalmologist as members, unlike SBAO and ASOA.
Conclusões
Conclusion: The type of healthcare system and economic market significantly influence the existence of ophthalmic administration societies. These institutions help to expand knowledge of management in ophthalmic care.
